As evidenced by my last post, it’s been a rough week here in twinland. We capped it all off with a really fun visit to the pediatrician that I’ll be telling you about as soon as I’m over my PTSD.
So how does a parent cope?
By making up a fabulous new drink, of course. Here it is, and I hope it makes your Saturday night infinitely more fun.
Tequila Sunset
Ingredients:
- Tequila (be classy, please; ditch the bottle with the sombrero and at least go for some Cuervo. Or, if you really wanna play grown-up, some Patron will do nicely).
- Crystal light (Sunrise Classic Orange flavor)
- Tonic water
- Lime or Meyer lemon
Optional: Orange liqueur (makes for a much sweeter drink, so skip it if you’re not into that).
Fill a really big glass with ice. Pour tequila over ice (amount may vary depending on whether your children have been monsters or actual demons that day). If you’re so inclined, add a dollop of orange liqueur.
There may be very little room left in the glass.
Add Crystal light, then top with tonic (keeps it from being too sweet).
Stir.
Drink.
Watch in amazement as your life becomes beautiful again. Goggle at how quickly a household can go through a fifth of tequila. Rest assured this is not a problem and will probably stop as soon as your kids leave for college.
Oops. Now you’re thinking about college tuition. Maybe you should mix another one.
What to read while you’re drinking your fabulous concoction? Go to Elizabethtown and check out the synopsis of the upcoming new WB series, Super Moms. Super Moms is the brain child of my friend Elizabeth, aka “The Hammer.” Rumor has it that there’s massive pre-show buzz on the blog underground. I’ve been cast as Lady America, and Law Momma will be playing Justice. Go check it out.

Okay…just came back from Elizabethtown…I'm not sure what I want to try most…her painkillers or your drink … then I'll try and write! I developed my own drink, too…had to do with raspberry vodka, pink lemonade, pomegranate (SP?) syrup, lots of ice and fresh, sweet green grapes! Must be a “mom” thing LOL!

Mmm, I'll take one of those over here! Hope all is well with you!

Why is it that ped visits are so awful? When I had to take them when Maddie was an infant, I swear I never left there without having sweat through my clothes!

Luckily, I know a liquor store within 2 miles that sells tequila, Crystal Light and Motrin in bulk. To the car!

I think that drink sounds fabulous. It may become part of my regular roster…
